Hermosa Beach

Out of the few commissioned works that I have done for clients Babushka Nails has been by far my favorite piece of work. The whole theme was Hermosa Beach, California vibe. Casual, relaxed but posh at the same time. The nail shop ( Babushka Nails ) is beautifully located on the beach strip of Hermosa Beach. We wanted to covey a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Since I wanted to create a serene atmosphere I picked the colors carefully blues, greens, and different shades of (burnt) oranges. I love layering watercolors on top of each other to create the water mark edges creating a type of texture to the image. When the painting was done, scanned, and uploaded to my desktop I refined the colors a bit and edited a few things. Since I have horrible handwriting I added the chalkboard text digitally as well as the shops name and address number. the last thing I added was the calming blue sky. I knew the paper would fold if I added a large amount of watercolor to the illustration and that the texture would take away from the other objects.

These print are available on my etsy shop as well as a few of them on the actual location of the nail shop located on 1134 Hermosa Ave. Hermosa Beach, CA 90254.

1. I am absolutely loving Sézane in whole. In specific their La Femme t-shirt, its so well made, so soft, and a great spin on your basic white t-shirt.
2. Jo Malone carries some of my favorite scents period. Peony & Blush Suede Cologne is hands down my favorite and most worn.
3. & Other Stories Horsebit Buckle Loafers are a great dupe for the gucci loafers for a fraction of the price and so well made!
4. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray has been my go to texturizing product. I give my hair a spritz out of the shower and don't touch it until my next hair wash since it holds a curl!
5. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow' Face Sculpt & Highlight is my holly grail product. I just sweep it across my whole face and gives my that glow (because who doesn't want to look like a golden goddess).

Café Con Leche

Café is one of many illustrations that I have created, and have finally put to print! I will be selling this print along with others on my Etsy shop and I will posting about the illustrations here on the blog along with images showing the process that I took when creating this illustration.

Café Con Leche was created with my family in mind. I am Mexican-American living in California so I wanted to depict a part of my culture. The best memories I have of my family back in Mexico is sitting around the kitchen gossiping with a hot cup of café con leche (coffee with milk).  Traditional clothing with embroidery and traditional pottery (jarritos) is depicted from my region. This illustration was inked out on bristol paper, painted with watercolor, photographed in natural lighting, and edited on snapseed and lastly on photoshop.

I spend 90% of my time in my bedroom. It has become my studio, office, living room, and a sanctuary for me and my three dogs. I want to slowly start the process of redecorating it with my own style and art work so it can become a place of inspiration and relaxation.

No news is good news. Started the summer with getting a job to be able to start saving for bigger dreams. Soon I will hopefully be able to sell prints! "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them". -Walt Disney

Succulent + Cactus

Welcome the new addition to my collection. Downtown L.A. Flower District is full of such beautiful greenery (for a cheap price) so when I get the opportunity to go I like to pick up a few things. These beautiful plants just add so much life and color to my work desk that I am able to draw inspiration from them. My next goal is to grab a Golden pothos,
also know as devil’s ivy.

Every morning should feel like this in the spring. Waking up to the sound of chirping birds, the cool morning breeze, and the bright warm sun shining through the windows. No one knows what one is wearing underneath your clothes but just by wearing pretty lace make you feel that much better and confident in yourself. Gap has this modal line of lounge wear and it is the most comfortable thing ever! Breakfast is a must to start of the day as well as a look at your schedule for the day.
